Canterbury Sylvan is a new covenant protected residential community located in St. Andrews
by-the-sea, which is one of New Brunswick's oldest and most distinctive settlements, established in 1783 by Loyalists from Castine, Maine. The development will establish itself by building on the towns rich heritage and a theme developed around the name, Canterbury Sylvan.

Canterbury Sylvan, pronounced sil’ven, is located on the fringe of the original St. Andrews town plat, now the nucleus of a modern town. The development is particially surrounded by a linear park and large maturely treed properties thereby the name Sylvan was chosen which means, “located in a forest or woods”. The development concept for this community will be to create a unique neighbourhood sensitive to the historic character of St. Andrews. Protective Covenants were designed to direct the development so to reflect the rich colonial character St. Andrews has come to symbolize. Attention to architectural details highlighted by the St. Andrews Civic Trust in the St. Andrews Heritage Handbook and reuse of original stonewalls on site are among the features promoted to encourage a consistent development theme. The development is intended to compliment the 1998 designation of St. Andrews as a national historic site that continues to be a popular choice as a fashionable summer resort and retirement community.
